October 14, 2013 – Following the success of their hit new animated pre-school series Peter Rabbit on CBeebies, independent media company Silvergate Media is to partner with Immediate Media to publish a four-weekly standalone Peter Rabbit magazine. The magazine will launch with a special ‘All About Peter Rabbit’ in Spring 2014 followed by a regular four weekly Peter Rabbit magazine priced at £2.49 with bumper issues available at £2.99.

Peter Rabbit is already featured in Immediate’s popular title CBeebies Weekly with a Peter Rabbit feature and cover mount planned for December of this year.

Ron Allen, SVP Consumer Products for Silvergate Media said: “We’ve been delighted with the performance of the new Peter Rabbit series on CBeebies and we are now setting our sights on developing a robust licensing programme for the brand. Magazines form an important part of that programme and Immediate Media has an excellent track record at understanding and adapting children’s brands into engaging and exciting print formats.”

Peter Rabbit launched on CBeebies and BBC One in December 2012 with a prime time Christmas special which attracted 1.7 million viewers. The first full season of the show then made its CBeebies debut in June 2013 and went straight to the top of the BBC iPlayer ‘Most Popular’ list. A second series of the show has just been commissioned.

Peter Rabbit is based on the characters created by Beatrix Potter in her classic children’s series The Tales of Peter Rabbit. The show follows the adventures of mischievous Peter Rabbit and his best friends Benjamin Bunny and Lily Bobtail as well as many of the much-loved and iconic Beatrix Potter characters, including Squirrel Nutkin, Jeremy Fisher and Mr. Tod. The new season will see the addition of Mittens the cat, Pig Robinson, and Ptolemy the tortoise, along with an expanded animated world for Peter and his friends to explore.
